I often heard different thoughts and opinions about Shark multiflex vacuums. Some of them are right, but in most cases, they are wrong. People are curious and eager to get legit Shark IonFlex reviews.
Until now, there weren’t any proper Shark Ionflex duo clean reviews available that dedicatedly focused on Shark Ion Flex vacuums.
That is why, here – a small effort is conducted to clear down all the confusion related to Shark Multiflex technology by adopting Shark IONflex and Shark IONflex 2x vacuums.
I will break down the ins and outs of Shark Multiflex Technology below. If you already know what this multiflex technology is, it’d be quite boring.
Here’s a quick link below to get straight into the action before you start screaming, “Take me out of here,” haha.
Straight to the action – Jump
Breaking Down The Shark Multiflex Technology
Which Vacuums Are Shark Multiflex Vacuums?
You might find a lot of vacuum cleaners in the market available, named Shark IONflex or Shark IONFlex 2x.
You even might find Shark vacuum cleaners named Shark ION f80 multiflex followed by some model numbers like IF202, IF251, or UF280, etc.
These create confusion among the buyers, and they feel like gasping into a vast ocean while trying to get hands-on with a Shark Ion Flex vacuum cleaner.
Which one should they buy, which will ease their necessities the most?
The thing is, Shark IONflex or Shark IONflex 2x vacuum cleaner models are not different from Shark Duoclean vacuum cleaners.
The term ‘IONflex’ depicts some very specific models from the Shark DuoClean vacuum cleaner family, where the multiflex technology is implemented.
What is Shark MultiFLex Technology?
Shark CO. has invented a new structural modification for its vacuum cleaners.
They allow these vacuum cleaners to be deformed at the upper middle portion to offer their users more ease and convenience whenever vacuuming under pieces of furniture using these vacuum cleaners. They named it “MultiFlex.”
‘Multiflex technology does not offer any significant change to its performance, only conveniences.
It allows the vacuum cleaners to be flexible and break necessarily when needed. You do not have to bend yourself while trying to reach the furthest under furniture.
Here, some examples are shown of how multiflex is going to help you with pro cleaning.
Another great convenience that multiflex technology offers is a self-standing storage option. If you flexed it from the multiflex point 180 degrees, it could stand on its own. No extra support is needed, no hassle.
There are a lot of instances of shark multiflex vacuum cleaners. The basic breakdown of these instances is given below: –
Shark IONFlex Vacuum Cleaners are rechargeable ION battery-enriched cordless DuoClean vacuum cleaners. Model numbers IC205, IF200, IF202, and IF205 are under Shark IONFlex vacuum cleaners.
Shark IONFlex 2x Vacuum Cleaners are rechargeable ION battery-enriched cordless DuoClean vacuum cleaners that come with an extra battery.
(N:B: These vacuum units do not contain two batteries within these, just an extra battery to be inserted after the previous one is completely depleted).
Model numbers IF251, IF252, IF281, and UF280, are under Shark IONFlex 2x vacuum cleaners.
Shark F80 MultiFlex Vacuum Cleaners are another name for Shark IONFlex 2x vacuum cleaners. They possess the same attributes as the IONFlex 2x vacuum cleaner.
Model numbers IF281 and IF281C IF282 are under Shark F80 Multiflex vacuum cleaners.
Shark Flex DuoClean Corded Vacuum Cleaners are corded DuoClean vacuum cleaners with multiflex technology. Model numbers HV390, HV391, and HV392 are Shark Flex DuoClean Corded Vacuum Cleaners.
What are these model numbers?
These model numbers are nothing but different orientations of the very same vacuum cleaner. Different model numbers come with different accessories and colors.
Down below, I’ll be stating which model comes with which accessories along with its’ color.
You’ll have the clearest picture of these different Shark IONFlex vacuum cleaners then, and then you can pick the most suitable Shark Ion flex vacuum cleaner for yourself then.
So, Shark IONFlex Vacuum Cleaners are Shark DuoClean vacuum cleaners with Shark Multiflex technology. This is the article containing the Shark IONFlex DuoClean review and Shark IONFlex DuoClean 2x review.
For those who still aren’t informed about the term ‘DuoClean.’
It is an invention by Shark CO. that allows these vacuum cleaners to perform equally on both hardwood, other solid, and carpeted surfaces.
The vacuum head of the DuoClean is comprised of two different types of brushrolls that work for both hardwood and carpeted floors.
One hard-bristled brushroll helps to go deep into the carpet, swell the dust there and suck the dirt, and a soft brushroll allows bigger debris particles to be absorbed from solid surfaces.
Usually, a soft brushroll is enough to deal with hardwood and thin carpets.
But whenever deep carpets come into the context, a hard-bristled brushroll is a must, and that is why these two brushrolls are implemented together in Shark DuoClean vacuum cleaners.
Another good thing is that there are no front walls like old vacuum cleaners that push the large particles away.
Saying again, none of these models differs from another. You’ll get the same main vacuuming unit no matter which model you choose.
Shark IONflex will bring you a shark IONFLex vacuum unit; Shark IONFLex 2x will bring you a shark IONFlex vacuum unit with an extra battery, and Shark Flex Corded Vacuum Cleaner will bring you a corded shark multiflex vacuum cleaner.
It’s time for a more detailed, thorough review of the vacuum cleaners. These are not-so-old modeled, detailed description enriched Shark IONFlex DuoCLean reviews are yet to be found on the internet about shark IONFlex vacuum cleaners.
Here, at first, the common features shared by each model under one segment will be discussed.
Then, the dissimilarities between each model (Commonly accessories and color) will be brought to light.
Shark IONFlex Review
These are the firstly introduced Shark MultiFLEX vacuum cleaners which are cordless.
Some know these vacuum cleaners as Shark DuoClean Cordless. Reviews of these vacuum cleaners are given below.
Common features:
These are bagless stick vacuums. Being stick vacuums, these weigh very little compared to other full-size upright vacuum cleaners.
Here, we are counting the weight of the main vacuuming unit of each model, and all of them weigh the same.
Weight
The weight of Shark IONFlex Vacuum Cleaners is 8.7 lbs
The weight of the handheld portion is 3.5 lbs
Some still found these vacuum cleaners heavy. Physical eligibility varies from person to person.
Versatility
These vacuum cleaners perform great on both Hardwood and carpeted surfaces.
Usually, heavy vacuum cleaners are the ideal choice for carpeted surfaces because the weight helps the vacuum cleaner to go deeper into the carpet pile.
Whatever, those are arduous to maneuver around, and if you want a light vacuum cleaner to perform well on a thick carpeted surface, the suction power should have been exceptionally well.
Here, the suction power of the Shark IONFlex vacuum cleaners is great. Even being a stick vacuum cleaners, these outrun many full-sized upright vacuum cleaners on carpeted surfaces.
As said before, these are nothing but DuoClean vacuum cleaners with flexibility. Like all the other DuoClean vacuum cleaners, these vacuum cleaners did great on both hardwood and carpeted floors.
For pet hair, these vacuum cleaners do well since hard-bristled brush rolls are a must to tangle pet hairs properly for suction – and hard-bristle brush roll is equipped in these shark IONFlex vacuum cleaners.
Batteries
As these are cordless battery-powered vacuum cleaners, battery life is a very important concern here.
A great vacuum cleaner will do nothing good if the runtime is low and it shuts down before the cleaning session is over.
These vacuum cleaners are powered by Lithium-ION batteries. Lithium-ion batteries’ capacity decreases over time, but these are high-quality batteries, and you should be alright for at least 2-3 years.
Anyway, batteries are mysterious, and if something is happened unfortunate, a two-year warranty is available for the batteries.
Shark ion flex battery life:
You will get three types of vacuuming convenience with a successful purchase of these shark IONFlex vacuum cleaners.
Hand vacuuming option along with floor mode and carpet mode. Under each mode, there are two sub-modes named ‘Max Power’ and ‘Extended runtime.’
While hand vacuuming: Whenever the batteries are at their hundred percent capacity, you can vacuum with max power mode for approximately 11 minutes and for approximately 23 minutes while in extended runtime mode.
With the floor mode on, You will get approximately 12 minutes of runtime on max power mode and approximately 20 minutes on extended runtime mode.
With the carpet mode on: You will get approximately 11 minutes of runtime on max power mode and approximately 14 minutes on extended runtime mode.
The main difference between the Shark IONFlex vacuum cleaners with the Shark IONFlex 2x vacuum cleaners is the number of provided batteries.
You can always purchase an extra battery additionally if you feel the necessity of an extra battery according to your home size – after buying a shark ion flex vacuum cleaner.
With all that being said, you have already got a hint that batteries are removable here, unlike some other leading cordless vacuum cleaners.
It is a huge advantage in my opinion, because you can always buy an extra battery. Moreover, if the battery gets faulty for any reason (nobody to blame here, batteries do this), your vacuum cleaner is still very good to go.
All you need to do is to buy a battery and insert it into your vacuum cleaner.
Warranty
These vacuum cleaners are backed by a solid 5 years warranty, while the battery warranty lasts for two years. That’s all the shared attributes of the Shark IONFlex vacuum cleaners.

Shark IONFLex 2x Review
Shark IONFlex vacuum cleaners with an extra battery are Shark IONFlex 2x vacuum cleaners.
Common features:
In this part of the Shark IONFLex 2x DuoClean review, common features of the Shark IONFLex 2x vacuum cleaner models will be described.
These are also bagless stick vacuums. As said before, these are nothing but shark ion flex vacuum cleaners with an extra battery provided in the box. All other aspects remain the same.
Weight
The weight of Shark IONFlex 2x Vacuum Cleaners is also 8.7 lbs. While the weight of the handheld portion is 3.5 lbs
Batteries
By some Shark IONFLex duoclean reviews available on the internet, people often get misled that these ion flex 2x vacuum cleaners can run for up to 80 minutes continuously.
That’s not true. You have to switch the battery in between to get such runtime.
You get the same old runtime you’d get if you’d purchased an ion flex vacuum cleaner; it will only get double here because you have another battery all charged up and ready to go.
This new battery will serve you the same battery life as the previous one.
Nothing to add about the batteries here. I have already discussed the batteries of shark IONFlex vacuum cleaners, and that information remains unchanged here.
However, I didn’t discuss the battery itself there. What the voltage is, the wattage of the motor, how long it takes to charge the battery fully, and what is indicated by the lights weren’t told in the earlier segments. I’ll cover the topics here.
The ION batteries often declared as ION power packs are 25.2-volt rechargeable lithium-ion battery packs.
The motor power is 300W watts with 11.9 amperages.
These batteries take approximately three and a half hours to be fully charged.
Battery indicator lights
The lights serve multiple purposes here. You can get notified about the remaining charge by the light. Additionally, the lights will blink and illuminate while charging.
Lights here also indicate some other different things. The lights truly reflect the inner visions of the battery here, haha. Anyway, let’s get informed elaborately with the help of some pictures below:-
Battery depletion:
All three battery gauges will be lit while the battery is fully charged. With time and usage of the vacuum cleaner, the battery will be discharged, and the battery life indicator gauges will begin to be off one by one, like in the picture above.
When the last indicator light blinks, it’s time to recharge the battery for uninterrupted vacuuming.
Otherwise, the battery can be completely depleted anytime, and all battery indicator lights will be off as the picture to commemorate that you have successfully discharged the battery fully.
Battery recharging:
After you put the battery on for recharging, the last gauge will start to blink. With time, the battery will be recharged gradually, and the second gauge will start to blink, with the last one being solidly lit.
Then the first gauge will start to blink, keeping the rest two solidly lit.
Do not stop the recharge process yet, because the battery is still not fully charged yet.
When any type of blinking is been off as in the picture, the battery is fully recharged and you are good to go again.
Some caution indicators by the lights:
Since I’ve already started apprising about different light blinking and what they mean, why not complete all the blinking there that occurs in a shark ion flex vacuum cleaner and clear the confusion once and for all?
Refer to the table below:
LIGHT INDICATOR | WHAT IT MEANS | |
---|---|---|
“FLOOR” and “CARPET” LEDs alternate illuminating | Unit temperature is high. Turn off the vacuum. While the unit is cooling, look for blockages and remove any that are found. Filters may also need to be cleaned. | |
“EXTENDED” and “MAX POWER” LEDs are flashing together | Blockage detected. Turn off the unit and remove the blockage. | |
Headlights aren’t illuminating | Brushroll garage is not properly closed. Close the door by inserting the tabs on the lid into the slots in the floor nozzle, then pressing down on the lid, above the headlights, until both sides click into place. |
Shark ion flex Battery life (Shark IONFlex 2x models): However, no need to memorize these indications. These pictures and instructions are sourced from the user manual of shark ion flex vacuum cleaners.
You’ll get one manual too if you buy one. The thing I try to implicate here is how structured these IONFlex vacuum cleaners are, which is great.
You should know that these self-troubleshooting options are available.
Operating modes are also the same here. Without the wand, hand vacuuming mode, floor mode, and carpet mode with two sub-modes, ‘Max power’ and ‘Extended runtime.’
As you have two batteries now, since you have a Shark IONFlex 2x vacuum cleaner, with the two batteries charged fully and you have the intention to conduct a marathon vacuuming session – the runtime will be doubled here. So
While hand vacuuming: Whenever the batteries are at their hundred percent capacity, you can vacuum with max power mode for approximately 22 minutes and for approximately 46 minutes while in extended runtime mode.
With the floor mode on, You will get approximately 24 minutes of runtime on max power mode and approximately 40 minutes on extended runtime mode.
With the carpet mode on: You will get approximately 22 minutes of runtime on max power mode and approximately 28 minutes on extended runtime mode.
Warranty
The warranty remains the same too. 5 years for the vacuum cleaner and 2 years for the batteries.
Because of shark IONFlex and shark IONFlex, 2x vacuums are the same; let’s get on with the quick specs like before again.
Shark IONFLex 2x vacuum cleaners | At a glance |

This model is not exactly under the Shark IONFlex 2x vacuum cleaner family. People know this as a Shark ION F80 Multiflex vacuum cleaner.
Anyway, this is also a duoclean vacuum cleaner with multiflex technology which comes with two batteries.
This is the coolest colored Shark ion flex vacuum cleaner, though, just my opinion – if you are into color or that sorta thing.

Some words on Shark MultiFLex Vacuum Cleaner’s filtration
There is a standard for the filtration system of a vacuum cleaner. There are very tiny dust and allergens that are floating neighboring us. These are so tiny that they can be measured as low as .5 microns.
HEPA stands for High-Efficiency Particulate Air. The HEPA standard is – that whenever a filter of a vacuum cleaner can block 99.97% of these very tiny particles, the filter of the vacuum cleaner is a HEPA filter.
All shark IONFlex vacuum cleaners’ filters can block 99.8% of dust particles except the shark flex corded vacuum cleaners. These are capable of blocking 99.9% of dust and allergens.
If you insist on getting a HEPA standard maintaining filter in your shark multiflex vacuum cleaner, there is an option though.
Some third-party filter manufacturers manufacture HEPA filters for different vacuum cleaners. They have manufactured such filters for the shark multiflex vacuum cleaners too. Check the link below to get a hand on those.
